A reading from The Book of Wisdom. (3:1-6,9)
The souls of the virtuous are in the hands of God,
no torment shall ever touch them.
In the eyes of the unwise, they did appear to die,
their going looked like a disaster,
their leaving us, like annihilation;
but they are at peace.
If they experienced punishment as men see it,
their hope was rich with immortality;
slight was their affliction, great will their blessings be.
God has put them to the test
and proved them to be worthy with him;
he has tested them like gold in a furnace,
and accepted them as a holocaust.
They who trust in him will understand the truth,
those who are faithful will live with him in love;
for grace and mercy await those he has chosen.
This is the word of the Lord
Thanks be to God

you might as well wear a condom on your head if you’re gonna act like a dick
I feel like this is a song/partnership that people didn’t talk about nearly enough
and that might be because it came out a little before We Are Young and was totally/completely eclipsed by that release
"Learn to say ‘no’ without explaining yourself."
"text me when you get home so i know you’re safe" kinda people are the people i wanna be around
the way to a woman’s heart is through football jerseys and tickets and whoever’s telling you otherwise is lying
in a healthy, close relationship of any kind, when something upsets you, you need to bring it up. as soon as possible, even. cultivate an environment in which you both can talk about things that upset you, with the utmost attention to everyone’s feelings. it’s a really simple thing to do but it’s a thing i’ve been working on for a while and i’m getting actual nice things happening as a result
"The poet’s job is to put into words those feelings we all have that are so deep, so important, and yet so difficult to name, to tell the truth in such a beautiful way, that people cannot live without it."
"sometime the wrong choices bring you to the right places"
